“Kahawa” means “coffee” in Swahili—a nod to East Africa, where this blend is rooted. We source from highland communities in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania, regions celebrated for vivid, fruit-forward cups and lively acidity. Expect a kaleidoscope of flavors: toffee, caramel, and sweet chocolate layered with raisins, green apple, red berries—and the classic Kenyan black-currant note—finishing with a soft, jasmine-like florality.
Quality begins at the tree: cherries are selectively hand-picked, then typically depulped and washed at cooperative wet mills or washing stations before slow sun-drying on raised “African beds.” This meticulous approach (including multiple passes of hand-sorting) preserves clarity and sweetness while keeping processing low-impact and energy-light.
Tastes like: toffee, caramel, milk chocolate, raisins, green apple, red fruits (cherry/black-currant), with a gentle floral finish—big, bright flavor wrapped in a smooth, medium-dark roast.
